The Twin Cities Breastfeeding Bag Project is inspired and based off of the Laramie Breastfeeding Bag Project in Laramie, Wyoming. We are a grass-roots, non-profit organization consisting of mothers dedicated to the support and normalization of breastfeeding in our communities. Our bags are true breastfeeding resource bags. They provide helpful information and tips, support and encouragement, and useful coupons and samples from local and national companies that support and encourage breastfeeding. The bags will help new moms and babies get the very best start at breastfeeding.
Each day, numerous babies are born to mamas who intend to breastfeed. These same women are sent home from the hospital with a "welcome" bag full of formula with a tag on it that reads, "For breastfeeding moms." It is our contention that these bags do not help or encourage breastfeeding mamas at all. The Twin Cities Breastfeeding bags are alternatives to these bags that send a positive message about breastfeeding and include information and products that truly support breastfeeding.
